IBS Bank is looking to fill the position of a General Manager -Mogadishu

𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯:

The position is responsible for developing the corporate and strategic objectives for the bank on a medium term and annual basis. The incumbent is also responsible for finalizing the annual business targets for the Bank Board approval and leading the business team to achieve the various approved business targets. The incumbent is also responsible for performance management of all the departments / units under Business Development function. The role is also responsible for planning and implementing the Branch expansion Programme of the bank as well as scrutinizing and approving credit facilities as per delegated powers.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀:

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:

✅ Manage the business of IBS bank with the following main tasks:-
✅ Create business demand for the bank.
✅ Acquisition of high value customers and business partnerships to the required levels.
✅ Administer the business department
✅ Oversee customer service delivery
✅ Create synergies in all units/ depts. within the department and within the bank.
✅ Manage the business units, products and channels profitably by maximizing revenues and minimizing costs to contribute towards the set business and corporate goals/targets.
✅ More specifically grow the bank’s balance sheet, both deposits and investments within the relevant business segments and control the costs to meet or exceed the companies’ profitability projections.
✅ Mitigate risk though a robust policy framework for the bank within the business units
✅ Ensure compliance and accountability to processes, standards and regulatory requirements.
✅ Develop comprehensive, effective strategies and policies for the business
✅ Develop effective tactical plans and oversee their successful delivery with targets cascaded throughout the units.
✅ Continuously seek to understand the needs of the market and all the time develop and innovate relevant products and service models that exceeds expectation.
✅ Deliver bank’s business at appropriate fees
✅ Ensure staffs within business department have clear view of their responsibilities on a continuous basis as well as aligned to the departmental goals/targets and the Corporate goals.
✅ Ensure high performing staff and teams through application of appropriate management skills and tools.
✅ Cause to recruit high performers and ensure they are retained and each staff is given a chance and encouragement to develop through appropriate training and guidance.
✅ Ensure customer needs are anticipated and each staff delivers service that exceeds customer expectation
✅ Provide leadership in key areas to the staff within the department
✅ Coordinate the business staff and business units’ participation in developing their appropriate strategies, policies, improvements in processes, and plans and guide them through the process and implementation.
✅ Present business strategies, plans for approval and integration into the bank’s overall plan.
✅ Communicate effectively the approved business policies, corporate goals/targets, plans and goals to staff.
✅ Oversee continuous improvements in the department through innovations initiatives and carry the rest of the company along,
✅ Coordinate seamlessly the services of the department in the market and with the rest of the bank and promote team work within the department and with the rest of the Bank.
✅ Ensure compliance by applying the necessary management tools.
✅ Participate and offer leadership in the designing, formulation, execution and adoption of promotional plans and activities.
✅ Ensure customer issues are conclusively handled
✅ Managing an effective, accurate and efficient business information including market information with correct interpretations that offers accurate insights into customer needs, competition and market business innovations that include products and services.
✅ Supervise the talent development. Participates in the development of branch networks and other alternative delivery channels.
✅ Provide leadership in ensuring HR policies and procedures are accurately & consistently applied including staff KPIS, assessments and staff morale is kept at high levels.
✅ Cascade appropriately corporate and business tasks while taking responsibility and leading by example.
✅ Monitor performance and guide the staff in activities and strategies that will achieve and exceed targets including appropriate reviews that respond to a continuously changing environment.
✅ Oversee continuous improvement in the various units of the department.
✅ Handling any other role that may be assigned by management from time to time in the course of duty.
Human Resources Management
✅ Liaison with the Bank’s Human Resources Manager in co–coordinating staff appraisal programmers and overall supervision of staff to ensure that business targets of the Department are achieved.
✅ Prepares and manages Department’s establishment, staff cost, and budgets to ensure that they are within the overall budget.
✅ Identify in liaison with the Human Resources Manager appropriate on the job training and development programmes and to act as internal resources development for staff being supervised.
✅ Assessing manpower requirements in the form of well-structured operations, job descriptions and manning levels in the branch.
✅ Build HR resources to meet Department Objectives.
✅ Efficient leave management.
✅ Improve employee satisfaction and regular performance appraisals.
✅ Develop staff skills and Training.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆

 

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

• Approve offers to customers in consultation with finance and CEO and where necessary the board approval.
• Seek for business plans approval through the budgeting process and implementation procedures.
• Seek for approval of tactical plans that are of a strategic and corporate nature and implement those that are not.
• Seek and originate facility requests for financing/investment and process credit approvals at various authorized levels and be accountable and responsible
 

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀

• Guide the collection of relevant facts to support the development of products, services and channels.
• Guide the designs of products and innovations and seek for the relevant approvals as per specific procedures
• Seek for approval of activities that have a monetary value be it fees, rates, profit rates, costs, and procurement of capital items according to the financial, credit and procurement procedures and authority levels.
 

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆

• Staff plans, recruitment, discipline, rewards according to HR guidelines and procedures.
• Staff talent assessment and development according to laid down processes.
• Oversee the development of business Policies and procedures, obtain approval and the oversee process of creating staff awareness.
 

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

• Negotiate and reach agreement with partners with approval of management and where necessary the Board
• Ensure and take responsibility and accountability for adhering to partnership agreements
 

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

• Ensure compliance to the rules and regulations governing the business. These includes Compliance to KYC and AML policies, compliance to HR, Credit and financial policies as well as compliance to other banking regulations, product/service and brand promises.
 

𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

• Act as the bridge between the Bank and external partners, clients and agencies.
• Develop strong working relationships with external partners, clients, and agencies.
• Promote and effectively communicate the Bank’s programs and accomplishments.
• Capably represent the Bank at official functions and meetings.
 

𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻/ 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field (advanced degree or certification strongly preferred).
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience or demonstrated high level of success related to finance, law, public administration.

• Direct reports include the Business units and Program Developments.
